There are thousands of people in the world who live their life with multiple passions. Gianni Mendes has always been one of those passionate individuals. While he was fond of creating music, he was equally passionate about building a career in the world of law.
Gianni Mendes was born in Sao Paolo, Brazil, to a Brazilian mother and an Italian father. His father, a great "aficionado" of Flamenco and close friend of some of the most famous artists of his time, was the one who introduced Gianni to this electrifying style. Since then, the young boy was determined to make his own music someday.
The young and passionate Gianni stepped into music when he was just 10 years old. He began learning music playing classical and Brazilian guitar. Soon, just like his father, the young Gianni fell in love with Flamenco music. Growing up in Italy, he started traveling to Spain with his father to perfectionate this style. Flamenco is an art form Andalusia that combines several elements such as dance, singing, and guitar. It is a musical genre known for its great emotional intensity and is distinguished by its graceful movements of arms, energetic tapping, intense laments, and guitar strumming.
In Spain, Gianni became one of the very few students of Flamenco maestros Manolo Sanlucar and Enrique de Melchor, two of the most prominent Flamenco artists of modern times. With Enrique de Melchor, Gianni also had the opportunity to perform on tour all over Europe, with shows in Italy, France, and Spain. In 2002, the same year Gianni was granted his Juris Doctor Degree, he also recorded his first album, "Colores", in collaboration with Enrique de Melchor.
"Colores" comprised of Brazilian sounds with flamenco music. It was a mixture of different cultures, and it recompiled some of the most famous Flamenco guitar pieces of modern time. It brought together music by Paco de Lucia, the Gypsy Kings, and the same Enrique de Melchor, along with original compositions of Gianni Mendes. Moreover, famous Flamenco artists, including Guadiana, Juan Parrilla, and Antonio Ramos “Maca”, participated at Gianni's recompilation. This first album was a milestone in Gianni's music career.
During the years, Gianni Mendes has dedicated more and more time to the legal practice, but never forgetting his passion and love for music. As of 2020, the Brazilian-born Gianni Mendes is debuting with his first Latin-Pop single, “Te Amaré", which is inspired by Latin and Brazilian rhythms. The passionate music artist has composed “Te Amaré” himself and partnered with Tim Mitchell, the multi-Grammy producer of Shakira, for this first production. The song features other multi-Grammy artists, including Lee Levin at the drums and Guillermo Vadala at the bass. “Te Amaré” also comes with a music video featuring female protagonist Candela Marquez, a Spanish actress very well-known in Latin America and the Hispanic market.
Gianni Mendes is a man with many passions. He is a man who has proved to the world that it is possible to pursue more than one career in a single lifetime.
